Grace stayed at our house for the first time last week. She and Kate had a great time together. They both had to wear "princess shoes" while playing(sparkly shoes). At dinner time, Kate would drop something, Grace would pick it up, Kate would say "thank you" and Grace would say "you're welcome". This happened several times and just cracked me up how grown up they were. In the tub, they loved dumping water on each other's heads and squealing with laughter. I think more water was outside the tub than inside when they were through! At the playground the next day, they totally entertained each other. There was a sign there and they made believe it was an easel and pretended to write on it with pieces of mulch. It was so cool to see their imaginations at work! While they had their share of disagreements, they had a blast together and Kate was so sad to see Grace go!
Last weekend there were tons of bluebonnets so I was going to wait until later to take pictures. Then Kate got sick. So yesterday, I looked around and the bluebonnets were almost all gone! I was shocked how quickly they went away! I found one little patch and got a few shots, but Kate's latest thing is she won't look at the camera. Unfortunately, we tried to get pictures in another patch and that was cut short by Kate stepping in a fire ant mound. I was telling her not to move because she was heading for an area where I thought she might fall and slide into the drainage area which was quite a drop and she was crying. I thought she was just upset because I was using my stern voice. She did not move, I picked her up and her little feet were swarming. She looks like she has a weird disease on her feet. She was being attacked and still obeyed mommy! I was so proud of her but at the same time I felt terrible!
My favorite picture is the one of her with the stick looking back at me. She is really into sticks right now. She picks them all up and lines them up on the back patio and counts them.
Yesterday, I found a great toddler bed for $25 at a yardsale and Kate slept in it last night for the first time. She stayed put all night and seemed to sleep really well. Today when I was putting her down for her nap, she started pulling on the little rails saying "mommy, help me close it!"
In the last several days, Kate has suddenly started speaking in complete sentences. The first one was "I need help with this, please". She's said more since then but don't ask me to remember! She also loves asking "what's that sound?" about just about every noise she hears now.
Tova was sick the week before Easter so we did our playdate Easter Egg hunt after Easter. The kids had a blast! Koran's mom and dad hid the eggs and provided free rides in the wagon. Kate had a weird day. She was very easily upset. The picture of the girls on the seesaw pretty much sums it up. Every time someone "interfered" with her fun, she got overly dramatic about it. She definitely wasn't herself!
